I am Debbie, a British beach volleyball player aiming to help the UK to success on Horse Guards Parade at the London Olympics in 2012.

During training in California in 2005 with my playing partner Hedda Meijer, we went from 186th position after our first tournement to 9th in the CVBA series in just five months, so I know what can be achieved.

I was a top scoring UK beach volleyball player and won the leading British tournaments over the previous three years and am particularly proud to have helped keep the UK flag flying by beating teams from around Europe.

'It's not the winning, it's the taking part...'

Unfortunately, the rest of the world does not see it this way. Success comes from dedication, training and total commitment, which are difficult to maintain without sponsorship - and sponsors prefer to support winners.

As we move towards the 2012 London Olympics, when the sport takes centre stage on Horse Guards Parade, the UK sport needs the kind of support we see around the rest world where is has a massive following attracting huge audiences and multi-million dollar sponsorship.
