The Finest Beach Volleyball Court In The World...

5 Star fun and beach action at the Grove Hotel
The Grove Hotel at Chandler's Cross

A beach volleyball court described by Great Britain Coach, Matt Grinlaubs as 'Potentially the finest in the world', is the central feature of a luxury beach leisure area at the Grove in Hertfordshire, one of the world's leading 5 star hotels.

The Grove asked me to help with the court specifications and equipment, and to organise volleyball demonstrations and tournaments for special events including a major press launch. Thanks to Matt's enthusiastic support, Great Britain Team players and Olympic hopefuls, Zara Dampney and Shauna Mullins joined me and playing partner Leanne Eddie to present demonstration matches and give master classes to the press and invited guests from the exclusive world of fashion.

Sky Sports interview our team

Sky Sports used the event to record a TV guide to beach volleyball - with Zara describing and demonstrating key moves - for their popular 'All Sports' programme. This was followed by an Associated Press TV crew who recorded a series of interviews about building artificial beach courts in the UK for broadcast around the world.

Later in the day, ITN used the players as an action backdrop for an interview with Grove General Manager, Matthew Dixon, broadcast live as the introduction to the evening's national weather forecast.

seal of approval
The surrounding beach area is in a secure Walled garden along with a heated pool, croquet lawn, two tennis courts and one of the country's largest collections of orchids. The Grove's interior designers have added a row of beach huts equipped with plasma screen TVs, Xbox and PlayStations, plus massage and beauty therapy facilities.

Set in 300 acres of parkland and woodland, the Grove is already renowned for its fine championship golf course described as one of the best in Europe, and for its international standard football pitch which is used as a training camp by the England team. The beach court - which is to have a full tournament net system - will be used for demonstration matches and for coaching guests as part of the hotel's sport and leisure programme.

Thanks to the Grove and its star Press and Public Relations Manager Katharine Walsh, British Beach Volleyball now has a stunning world class showcase.
